An interesting development - RegLocal

He's now an IAM bike examiner.

Mike Roberts - Now riding a Triumph Explorer XRT. My username comes from my 50K miles on a Kawasaki 1400GTR, after many years on Hondas of various shapes and styles. - https://tinyurl.com/mikerobertsonyoutube

Interesting and a bit surprising. He's an excellent driver but isn't he new to biking?

Passed his ministry test 2 years ago.

I'll be interested to watch his forthcoming videos and any comparisons he makes between his many years in cars.

Yes, interesting too in that - presumably - he doesn't have an advanced / '1' ticket for motorcycles? Although he mentions Masters and "others", does he state what anywhere?
Your 'standard' is how you drive alone, not how you drive during a test.

He has a Masters with Distinction.

As the supply of ex-police class 1's dries up, examiners are being drawn from riders with this and suitable background.

Ok, thanks. I didn't know that was the case. Is it that anyone with an 'M+' can apply to become an examiner?

They also need to have taken the National Observer test (i.e. have a current Masters and be an NO) to be able to apply for an examiners post.

Is that a progressive route, or is there any option via accreditation of prior learning to give direct access?

There's an IMI-validated examiners' qualification now, too. I took it alongside my quality assurance check last year.
