This is going to become more common place, particularly on vehicles with L2 or L3 ADAS systems where they aren't good enough to be autonomous, but will let the driver more easily pay even less attention to whats going on around them than usual (so the computer needs to check the driver is paying attention when they hand back).
I'm just wondering how they'll be calibrated for the average disinterested driver and how many users will get fed up with continual prompts to pay attention....
Presumably the next step of this will be to link to your insurance black box too...

I think our Mercs have had this or something like it for years. I've never had a warning even when I know I need to stop. In a hired Kia Sportage recently I got a couple of warnings within a few minutes of setting off when fully alert. I conclude that the tech is not yet good enough to be useful.
