L3 autonomy

Surprised no-one has posted this yet today:

Personally I think it should be L4/L5 (ie geofenced autonomous or fully autonomous) or nothing. If you can't be bothered to drive, go and find a public transport solution (or chauffeur)

It is I think based on the concept that at L3 the car will hand back to you when necessary - and at that point turn off the TV
(hence why no permission for phone as the car can't control the phone)

Yes. My premise is that it will take far longer to hand back than is sensible as well as deskilling drivers.

So 88% of collisions are due to human error, obviously can't do anything about that!! so let the car do it simples. :soap:

^^ That. Wot 'e said.

If you are disengaged from the driving task enough to watch TV, play games, whatever, then you are definitely too disengaged to be in a position to take back control when required.

As you said already, if you can't be arsed to drive then catch the 'kin bus.
