Re: Really good or quite bad?
Visit such as an American President involved having to co-ordinate with several specialist units including the FBI who always seemed to have their way of doing things and we had ours so it could get interesting. FBI? I thought they were US domestic only. Are you perhaps referring to the Secret Serv...

Re: Really good or quite bad?
Having seen videos of the DPG SEG Special Escort Group? Yes - I thought they were called Diplomatic Protection Group - either they were or I imagined it.... I think they're the ones stood close to the VIP, looking twitchy behind their mirror shades, talking to their wrist, and trying not to reach u...

Re: Hypermiling
Yes I quite agree Tom - there is some rubbish advice on t'internet...things like putting it in neutral while slowing...or using really high gears when travelling at 30mph. Yet a lot of auto cars now do this when you lift of the gas, so there is no natural acceleration sense driving. Not that I'm sa...

Re: Roundabout peep & creep?
I agree with you,Gareth, it is probably the best option. I'm also finding that the lack of proper signals and poor positioning also makes creeping out the more safe way of entering the roundabout these days.

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
Does anybody think they enter bends too quickly? I did. At one time our stressed friend did. In my case probably coming from an excess of exuberance and optimism, coupled with not paying enough attention to the important thing of the moment. I knew it from having to untidily fix it up, and from wif...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
I haven't read the whole of this thread in detail so apologies if this has already been covered. There is one simple rule when it comes to speed. Only drive up to a speed that allows you to stop comfortably on the tarmac available to stop on. The "risk" from speed alone will then be zero. ...

Re: Once is careless, 5 times...?
Ive been pleasantly surprised over the last 2 months. Ive driven half a dozen times to Covent Garden and a third of the journey is in a 20 limit the rest 30 limit. Keeping to these limits posed no problems as every one was acknowledging the limits. Made for quite a relaxing drive particularly for th...

Re: IAM Roadsmart’s car crash on social media
"driving to the system means you cannot crash." Where on earth did you get that from? I think that should read driving to the system means you won't have an accident of your own making. Your position, speed and gear can be correct but if someone wants to hit you they probably will. I thin...

Re: What has one learned over the years ?
I learnt that a derestriction sign has a limit. Then driving with the police learnt the new phrase of "driving at your discretion". Today back to national speed limit. At my age I get confused with all these changes. (My excuse for any lapses. )
