Re: IAM a Magazine
For some reason the IAM Magazine is getting more and more like the Saga Magazine. There must be a reason. :soap: Well, having: - Attended a couple of AD days - Visited a couple of IAM Groups - Looked in the mirror - Filled in my claim for the state pension yesterday :o Your point is ... ? :D ...

Use the 'Billy Liar' crossing method:
Limp across, one leg rigid, holding up your arm in a 'Stop!' signal. Own the road.
But be prepared to jump

Re: I was just following the satnav...
Maybe they need one of these: Ignore Stanav 1 Ignore Satnav 2 And do we think either of these work? Maybe as Horse suggests they need some electronics that instead pops up a message on the drivers satnav/phone, rather than expecting them to do something an onerous as look out the window :hit: To be...

Re: I was just following the satnav...
Ref the Edinburgh ‘flight of steps’, I’ve failed to find any images. Found a few pics of other stranded vehicles from same perspective, like the Beeb’s, but nothing of the actual steps. Not defending the stranded drivers, mind you. They’ve clearly driven right over a pavement, without even a droppe...

Re: I was just following the satnav...
But if the first vehicle to turn down the steps makes it to the bottom would that confirm that the route is passable and therefore valid? If it makes it (and doesn't require recovery) then, on a yes/no scale, it was passable. However, returning to the 'look where you're going' statement. Have a loo...

I would guess almost all drivers don't follow that all the time.

Re: I was just following the satnav...
Feels a bit like a solution looking for a problem rather than telling folk to use their eyes? (and taking driving licenses away from folk who can't be bothered to do that). The wider possibilities are almost endless. Ever hit a pothole? One vehicle hits it, reports it to the system, every vehicle t...

Re: I was just following the satnav...
Ironically, if the full capabilities of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles are introduced, there should only be a single incident. That information would then be shared across the fleet. Well, the fleet with compatible software, that is still eligible (or paying) for updates, yes  That's up to...
