Re: Cornering...

Since everyone else has has a go, I thought I'd poke my nose in as well ... If the road curves to the left, I turn the steering wheel in the appropriate direction to get the car to follow the road. When you turn the steering wheel for a bend, do you ever get to the point where the car is turning mor...

Re: Autonomous cars "will have accidents"

it sums up a lot about how these cars while autonomous, have a huge lack in intelligence... I'm expecting Google cars, and the like, might rely on cloud processing to a significant degree. why is there a rush? Commercial organisations hoping to grow a market and generate lots of gold pressed latinum.

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

I would argue that it is the endless going over the same old ground, answering the same old questions and listening to the same old arguments that made ADUK so dull. Two thought have I ... how would you ensure the same doesn't happen here, (seems likely given the same people are involved), and pres...

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

Anyway, this forum, and it's predecessor, really aren't aimed at people who have had a significant amount of professional coaching. Really? Says who? I'm genuinely surprised and not a little perturbed by this statement. Without a majority or readers, and sometime contributors, who are just getting ...

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

For me it makes no difference if I commute to London, pop down to the shops or on good roads in Wales every drive I try to drive my best and if things don't work out quite right I try to learn from the experience. I can never understand how a practice drive can be separated from any drive, so I wou...

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

For me the skills don't change - you might not do as much bend assessment, but you've still got to employ whatever system of planning you use. It is all the same - those that only dust off certain skills in the package for particular days are those that I worry about. It's clear that I sometimes ha...

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

Just out of interest, why do you go out to 'practice' your driving? Surely you should be aiming for your 'best' driving to be your default 'style'. Imagine all your driving is just daily commuting on motorways and going to the local shops. Would you think of a forum-organised day of driving as anyt...

Re: The most difficult aspect of Advanced Driving

Who says they are better? I've been with a couple of drivers who are supposedly brilliant drivers, well I didn't think so. That's not to say I thought I was better but it felt like they were trying too hard. I didn't feel comfortable at all nor was I impressed with some of the overtakes which I fel...
