Re: Brake and their RoadMap
I enjoyed a lovely run today from Keswick down to Cartmel along by Windermere - overtaking much of the traffic on the way (they seem to not notice when it changes from 30 to derestricted), never once worried about it being an issue judging oncoming traffic/ road space etc. Brake can carry on as much...

Re: IAM Bad Habits
We probably shouldn't be considering much from the IAM seriously at the moment ;) I agree it is difficult - but a general rule of avoiding over-stressing the car for the first 10-15 minutes of driving is likely to be simpler to follow - I haven't driven many cars which are not up to temperature by t...

Re: IAM Bad Habits
well, starting the engine and letting it sit for 60 seconds -> warmed up car… is not accurate, anyone doing that and then over-revving my m5 is likely to end up as damaged as the car

Re: Breaking wind – your tips on my overtaking scenario
Also, I aim to ride with consideration to other road users, which means I want to avoid a driver ahead of me feeling under excessive pressure. If I can overtake the car ahead without troubling them, that’s great. However, if my positioning pressures the diver ahead – merely so I can gain the satisf...

Re: Breaking wind – your tips on my overtaking scenario
you could be on your side, on an empty road and have a branch fall or be blown in front of you... not sure that it is totally related to the overtake other than it taking your focus away from your surroundings...

Re: Motorcycle videos
Good video... I think this may be more of an issue on a bike than in a car as drivers may be more conscious of a bike's likelihood of passing... I guess it is one of the reasons why hanging back until we choose to engage / pass is important, it takes the pressure off the driver in front so they are ...

Re: What gear is best?
I think that drivers also become attuned to keeping engine noise down - it can 'feel more comfortable' to change up sooner - combine that with a light (where it exists) which is primarily focused on Euro xx regulations and emissions, but encourages early change up and you find the modern pattern of ...

... I just drive more sensibly!... I try to always drive 'sensibly' - just that you may not agree with my 'sensibly'... Tell you what, it's blinking cold here (Bristol) today...heavy frost and foggy - still and it's nearly lunchtime. :D it is indeed cold - I cycled down the Portway thi...
