Advanced driving/Riding in the future?

So with ever lower speed limits, councils discouraging driving and auto driving features on cars...where does that leave Advanced Driving in say 20 years time? Is it to become a technique for an even smaller number who drive 'classic' cars for 'fun' slowly at weekends or is even that wishful thinkin...

Re: Best features to look for when buying a new car.

I still think 2 lane DCs need a technology to make people move left when they're not actively overtaking and have someone following. And motorways of course...I travelled about 50 miles from Worcester to Bristol yesterday early evening and it was reasonably quiet and in that time I came across prob...

Re: Breaking wind – your tips on my overtaking scenario

...Also a lot of opportunities to overtake would be when leaving a restricted speed area, but loads of cars 'go' 2-300 yards early. Or if someone is tailgating me then they go for an overtake when the new higher limit is in sight...what do I do...wait patiently for the new limit, then immediately l...

Re: Single track or nearly...

Why slower for the tight right-hander? I am probably being stupid, but I think I go slower for tight left-handers (in the UK) because the view is shorter from the inside of the bend. And yes I do use the horn on tight left-handers. Errr...with a tight right-hander, I'm up against the right-hand hed...

Re: Single track or nearly...

It also might help to imagine a parent with a pushchair on the inside of the blind bend, just out of sight. Interesting thought Gareth...but hopefully there would be enough space for me to squeeze through in a panic slowing/stopping...a car or even a tractor though is a different thing. Some of the...

Re: Single track or nearly...

Hi Imagine around every bend there is a bale tractor with the tines pointed in your direction. Works for me :hit: :hit: Had a few close calls on road like that both on the bike and in the car. Usually locals in dirty 4 x 4s who travel the road every day and normally meet no one. Yes - nice  ...

Single track or nearly...

So I've just returned from an excellent long weekend in South West Wales - near Pendine Sands and did a fair amount of single track with high hedges...or perhaps one-and-three-quarters width roads - which I found more tricky. My temptation with the slightly wider roads was to go perhaps a little too...

Re: Can anyone advise please? France

Thank you all. Yes. Happily, I am old enough to remember French roundabouts when, on one, one had to give way to traffic entering the roundabout! I thought they had almost died out now though... In my experience it has died out in Normandy/Brittany/Paris and also much further south Toulouse/Bordeau...

Re: Importance of surprise horizon

No why stop at 40 - lets make it 30 right across the UK - it's got to be safer because "Speed kills"...doesn't it?
