Re: Speed limiters

And how will automated systems work when one is abroard? Year before last I had occasion to drive from Antwerp to Lower Normandy ... I wonder how it would have handled that ... I live in Spain (Catalunya mixed with the French side) and can assure they work perfectly well. The last time I looked we ...

Re: Speed limiters

The devices are fitted to most new cars. The important thing to remember is that they can be switched off and their use is optional. In use they can be over ridden if needs be; sometimes I use them and at other times I don't. Not yet they are not. I think you are talking about speed limiters that Y...

Re: Cast your mind back ... ADIs ... Hazard Perception Test

Looking back I wonder, given some of the raw material, how on earth we taught changing gear/hill starts etc let alone some of the finer points.

Re: Cast your mind back ... ADIs ... Hazard Perception Test

Most drivers do little or anything about any situation until they have to, are forced to. The idea of spotting hazards developing is a rare thing. The idea that to have good reactions makes a better driver persists. Today a drive of 180k down the E15 I saw people reacting to and not anticipating tha...

Re: Cast your mind back ... ADIs ... Hazard Perception Test

I taught a scaled down version of Roadcraft, not entirely, but when the pupil could appreciate it and that was not all of them. Thanks. Dud you alter anything to align with the 'developing' hazard = click aspect of the HPT? It was a long time ago and there is only so much a L driver can take it (mo...

Re: Banning the wrong things again?

Similar to Mark above, I prefer the Infotainment system provided by the manufacturer - in my case Audi, to the Android Auto offering. It may be that the Audi Virtual Cockpit doesn't suit it particularly well, but then I found it also not to my liking when running it in OH's Golf. It may simply be a...

Re: Banning the wrong things again?

Will manufacturers start installing hands-free phone brackets? Do not the wireless charging shelves do this? But then I think Android Auto needs a cable connection. With mine, the salesman said the Bluetooth isn't sufficient, ideally use a cable. (I don't have wireless charging). Although I did fin...
