Re: I'm resigned to driving slower and slower.

Although it pains me to admit...reducing average speed has been shown time and again to reduce the number and severity of RTCs. Of course the problem is where do you stop the reductions? I suspect there are also unintended consequences of lack of attention, fuel efficiency and reduction in the desir...

Re: Motorway Hard Shoulders

It should be illegal, with no exceptions at all, to keep a motorway open without a hard shoulder available for emergency use. Or do you think differently? The original scheme (on the M42) has been closely monitored before and after becoming a 'managed motorway'. The stats show improved flow, less p...

Re: Let the games begin ....

Many people are ignorant of much of the HWC. Elsewhere we seem to be arguing the rules/road layouts should be changed to suit the incapable.... There's a good example here ... Very apt place...the Lord (of the same name) would be turning in his grave at the antics of some drivers. It would be helpf...

Re: EU - should the UK have joined the Euro currency?

...along with loads of problems (like Greece) and less control of our own economy (like interest rates). Euro curreny membership is vital if the EU is to achieve it's aim of one state and preceeds a European central bank and ultimately central government. I and many others don't want that level of E...

Re: EU - should the UK have joined the Euro currency?

In my opinion yes we should have. Wow really? I'm really glad we didn't (and I voted remain) - with Greece being propped up and some others also to a lessor extent, I can't see how such different economies can be successfully merged. It would also make leaving much more difficult (and I voted remai...

Re: EU - where did it go wrong?

Interesting discussion and nice to see intelligent people here debating - in contrast to all the hatred and extreme stuff being broadcast elsewhere. Immigration is over-played in my view. I was tempted to vote 'leave' due to other factors as well: EU bureaucracy, lack of audit, the Euro crisis, EU l...

Re: BBC article on driver awareness courses

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36594584 I didn't realise there was now a 3rd type of course for "suspected intentional offenders". Oh there's more than 3... https://ndors.org.uk/courses/ Looking at those figures for the growth in numbers attending courses, it seems hard to argue it's anythi...

Crickey - I've only been keeping an intermittent look at this thread (no I didn't complain either!) but some people just need to lighten up! I'm not a moderator here but for those that have never done it, try sometime...getting the balance is tricky and if a thread is locked or a user banned, it see...

Re: Technology dumbing down?

One of SWMBOs colleagues came to visit our house a little while back. She stalled the car at the top of our lane - "I haven't had to do a hill start in years" - living in the fens it's rarely a necessity, unless you live on one of the few hills around (if 20m above sea level can be called...
