Re: Steering input
My point wasn't to avoid discussion, but rather to give a sense of priorities. There are lots of people here who seek to transcend the human-machine interface entirely. I don׳t, but overall I agree it isn't all that significant to how one drives. And outside of my description of how I steer, I can'...

Re: Technology dumbing down?
I sometimes find hill start assist useful in an automatic car (well, let's say a dual clutch equipped car which would otherwise roll back if you release the footbrake before pressing the clutch - and don't either left foot brake or use the handbrake). In my current manual Hyundai I find it mildly ir...

Re: Censorship and derailment
I think there is being a bit of silliness here... tripleS in my view completely over-reacted... It was a minor issue regarding a comment being better placed in its own thread rather than de-railing another thread, however work interrupted and I was unable to let TripleS know before he had reacted, ...

Re: Steering input
"So, I am not writing this because it is a particularly important subject, I am writing this because it isn't and we would be better it off putting it to rest here and than resume bantering on more important subjects." And then you include some fairly prescriptive thoughts with which other...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?
The question to answer is whether we are better off as part of a larger country called Europe or a smaller country called England (other parts of the UK being liable to be hives off if we exit the EU). We are not today a sovereign nation. The referendum is about whether to revert to being one. Perso...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?
At the moment, I've leaning towards Leave. Athough this probably has more to do with my intense dislike of the Remain campaign, from all sides of the political spectrum, than any hard facts. I am equally depressed by the appalling quality of the campaign on both sides. I am struggling to see how th...

Re: Censorship and derailment
... it was locked later as it had reached its natural end - it wasn't going to improve... ;) Alasdair My humble observations are: 1) Threads reach their natural end when members collectively lose interest and stop posting. Not when an individual arrives at that conclusion. :o 2) No thread is ever g...

Re: What Happened?
And thus the insurance companies will be puzzled and ponder over that small group of drivers who seem to travel at a much higher pace than average without ever having incidents. .......and the insurance companies will then ignore and dismiss the data, as it doesn't fit their preconceived ideas of t...

Re: Dead steering: no feedback
I would've thought that as long she's not dry steering, no harm is being done to the steering components and tyres. If she is dry steering, then I'm afraid you'll probably find that the damage it causes is so minor that it'd take 10 years of constant dry steering before it wears out the power steer...
