EU - where did it go wrong?

I've been making full use of hindsight in conjunction with a lack of historical knowledge ... It seems to me there are a number of issues that combined to lead us to where we are now. Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

I hereby complain about your entirely unnecessary use of foul language To be fair, even the best of us might say or do things we later regret when we are deeply upset or in a state of emotional shock. I try to recognise these in me and, when identified, try to say or do as little as possible until ...

Re: Technology dumbing down?

Normally, what works best is to open the mirrors out to a point where both do not display the sides of one's own car and have at least the passenger side mirror (which in many cars cover a smaller field of vision) set even further so that there is just a bit of overlap between the outboard side of ...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

I was subject to insane amounts of pressure to do as well as I possibly can. Where did the pressure come from? The education system? Society? Your parents? Your peers? From inside? For what? Some letters to prove that I can regurgitate some facts under exam conditions, or do some problem solving. Y...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

it rather amuses me that people who are older are saying their opinion should be treated with equal respect to the opinion of young people [...] I'm going to remind people of the discussion we had a few months previously where it was reasonably argued by me that a young person can have far more exp...

Re: Censorship and derailment

It would have seemed quite normal to me had the original offending post been moved to a new thread with a comment that that had been done because it represented excessive thread drift. I don't think that would have generated the sort of discomfort which simply deleting it without explanation has do...

Re: The EU - Leave or Remain?

for those with kids (or grandkids) old enough to vote - have you asked what they think? If they are able to vote then why should their views be given greater value than other voters? Because they'll have to live with the consequences of the decisions for much longer and it will have more of an effe...

for those with kids (or grandkids) old enough to vote - have you asked what they think? If they are able to vote then why should their views be given greater value than other voters? Our company has the opposite problem - the UK is not providing enough skilled engineers, so we have no option but to...

I think younger people tend to be more fearful about the consequences of leaving the EU and more optimistic about the benefits of staying in.
