Re: Learners - motorways, night, bad weather

I also think there should be some sort of compulsory log-book for learners (like there is in France) with certain topics being signed off by an ADI. With the learner pass rate of around 45% and only 1:4 passing first time, I think a slightly more formal method of teaching would be good. Perhaps it ...

Re: How does advanced driving deal with a modern manual gearbox

I found autoblip works best if you don't separate brakes from gears. So if you do decide to use the system, what would be the advanced way to use it? From someone who loves the PDK, and is trying very hard to not overlap brakes and gears as it is sequential (no block changes) and so easy to do, my ...

Re: Roundabout indicating

In any test I would do it pedantically correctly. That means not touching the paint... During my post IAM test discussion, my examiner commented that I was probably a bit too respectful of roundabout white paint and to consider taking a better line if safe to do so and without causing confusion. Re: Reg's Youtube Channel

Re: Driving Shoes

I ended up with some Merrell Barefoot shoes which seem to fit the bill nicely. +1 I used to spend most of my time in heavily cushioned running shoes and didn't appreciate just how little feel they allowed. switching to the barefoot type certainly appears to have helped - even my co driver commented...

Re: The Antidote to BRAKE

...emotional rhetoric seems to carry far more sway :( Agreed, but that only works in one direction. If you are saving kittens or thinking of the children, your argument can be as paper thin as it is possible to be - the emotion makes up for any lack of reason. Multiply that by a factor of, lets say...

Re: The Antidote to BRAKE

I find them each as unpalatably extremist as each other - to the extent that while both may have some valid points, neither can put them across with any degree of engagment.
