Re: How does advanced driving deal with a modern manual gearbox

Those of us who drive 4 cylinder turbo diesels seem to agree that our gear-change indicators advise us to keep the revs approximately between 1,000 and 1,500 rpm, but many say they generally use a higher rev range for flexibility and/or refinement. We also agree that the gear-change indicators are s...

Re: Sledgehammer vs Nut?

Harlow Council have responded to the internet storm. Injunction Clarification Clear as mud then. Still see no need for it given existing police powers. What it still does is leave many people liable for a criminal charge if the council/police decide to use the injunction for a specific occurence/ev...

I have this feature on my Hyundai, and find it useful. I think it only operates on very tight and therefore slow corners, but on those it usefully illuminates the area into which you are going to turn, which is otherwise dark.

Re: Citigo - 300 miles later.

I've already performed a few overtakes in the car, and it's alright, but planning is important, as is a good knowledge of the road ahead. Just in case I've misunderstood, you shouldn't need any special knowledge of the road ahead other than you can see or have seen. If you overtake based on prior k...

Re: One of the dozen

The wall is covered in ivy. There is a small patch of white painted brick on the left running parelell to the road(Church Street). just after this the wall bends left at 90 degrees where a triangular area of grass separates Church Street from Back Lane which comes in from the left at an acute angle...

Re: US to invest $4bn in autonomous cars

I have a 2015 car with all these things. I wanted the top level trim and comfort equipment so I got AEB etc. I switch off the lane departure system and am not bothered by the other bits but would not pay extra for anything beyond ESP and ABS. In the long term I think autonomous vehicles will meet al...

Nigel I remember being very much 'on your side' when you reported this incident at the time. However, I cannot find a wall on the left from your link.

Re: Oh deer

Swedish instructors said that hitting elk was a major cause of fatalities. Apparently they average half a ton. They said that this was a main justification for a national 90 kph limit on SCW roads.

Re: Some news for you!

To put aside concerns about reliability and dealers, I have always thought that a true ADer could drive any car to its maximum potential. Is that not what Roadcraft is about? Including an unfamiliar car? The ability to drive an unfamiliar car to an exemplary standard is a rare skill. Coping with th...
