Re: Phone use (again )

I think the biggest issue is the boundaries of technology and how you define / establish what someone is doing... - if I put my phone on a mount - this proposal would say that I can not use it as it would be a hands-free phone... - but there is no suggestion of stopping drivers from using the in-car...

Re: HPC Young Drivers Day 2019

A general reminder that this day is coming up in a couple of weeks - a really fantastic day if you haven't been before - with some fascinating insights into a more advanced approach to driving - with opportunities to drive your car with a course graduate, and to be driven by them in their car - also...

Re: Been a naughty boy?

How did you structure the overtake?
Sitting out on the right before accelerating for the overtake allows you to do a final check, but also warns the person being overtaken - if they are going to be silly then that is usually when they will do it and you can abort...

Re: Mazda removing touchscreens from cars

as an interesting example though - I have recently changed the M5 audio system from a very button based system to a modern Apple Car Play system - have to say it works well, however, I only use it for two things - satnav (which I set before I go) and music - which tends to sit on a spotify play list...

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

PS. This topic is public as it is not specifically IAM ;) even if it were in the IAM sub-forum here - that is only restricted to registered members - it is not restricted to IAM only members as I have no way of validating IAM membership... and as we allow anyone who looks genuine to register - effe...

Re: Speed limiters mandatory from 2022?

I passed the end of a 30 rural village - into a 60 NSL the other day - one sign had been turned around - two scenarios: - coming out of the village, presumably the system will limit the driver to 30mph in an NSL? - coming into the village, will it still restrict to 30 on one sign - hopefully, otherw...

Re: Warning triangles to be replaced..

Is that Spain which currently requires you to carry 2 triangles? I don't think the UK has a legal requirement to carry even 1 - Do we? I like the idea of a warning flasher on the roof as an alternative- but worry that it would be out of battery when needed, and about where it would be stored in the...
