Re: Brake vs. Advanced Driving

as above - I think that it is the word appropriate that is missing - we seem to live in a culture now where people prefer to present polemic views, not balanced ones - especially where there is virtue in some of what they are saying - sadly, there is often little balance and the good gets tied into ...

Re: 'New posts' button?

absolutely! my favourite short cut as well... I haven't done much with PHPBB for many years, so just finding my way around a bit - not sure if this is a simple option in the control panel, or whether I will have to modify the code - either way, definitely will do it - but might take a day or two... ...

Re: UK and elsewhere...

I think that history now-a-days is what the politicians claim / the historians publish - not necessarily what happened! Re: Welcome & Approach

Will there not always be a conscious awareness of the link in what people post? Depends entirely on Rob. But given most of the value of ADUK is it's independence, it would seem strange to throw that away. /devils advocate - how do we know you'll never sell this forum in the future if we spend lots ...

Re: Welcome & Approach

That's always possible but I have serious doubts about how much traffic ADUK will get now anyway. Whatever happens, ADUK will not be the same place that it was. It certainly won't if lots of the regulars leave  I don't get the sudden desire to abandon ADUK when we're yet to see anything actua...

Re: Welcome & Approach

One of the things that I have learned over the years with forums is that it is not about numbers, but about quality and enjoyment - a forum has to offer the online equivalent of getting together in a pub - enjoyable discussions, common appeal, folks you get to know over the years - some you build a ...

UK and elsewhere...

While there is a UK slant to this forum due to its history, there is no reason why there shouldn't be wider discussion of advanced driving everywhere, and the domain name was chosen to not be UK specific... Would it make sense to have forums on here for elsewhere? If so, what should we have? Alasdair
