Re: The New Year
Probably do a bit of driving myself, and most likely nick a fair few dodgy drivers whilst I'm at it too.. :D Interesting that. I have the impression that nicking dodgy drivers has been de-prioritized leaving the camera boys as the only police involvement with drivers unless the drivers actually cra...

Re: Overtaking Calculator
DB I believe suggested that if you are accelerating from behind you are committed if you can no longer stop without hitting the car in front if it begins to brake hard. I think it was based on this approach that you are committed earlier if accelerating from behind. It is an extremely cautious way o...

Re: IAM Thruxton Young Drivers Skills Day
No, I believe that the vehicle in which Reg was pressing both brake and accelerator pedals at the same time does not cancel the accelerator in those circumstances.

Re: IAM Thruxton Young Drivers Skills Day
Some manufacturers including VW cut the power if you push the brake at the same time as the accelerator. Maddening for those who like to use heel and toe!

Re: IAM Thruxton Young Drivers Skills Day
Many of us brake with the left foot in autos. Once you're used to it you have good subtlety of control with the left foot.

Re: Use of Indicator for Overtaking
Being like Gareth a beneficiary of John Lyons on road training I find myself agreeing with all his comments here. Once I have moved offside the indicator seems to me to serve no further purpose. Changing lanes on multilane roads I cancel my indicator at about the same point that many drivers apply t...
