Prompted by Horse's comment, and not seeing a new thread for the topic, I'd say it depends on what you want to achieve. The IAM and RoADAR have other badges to collect, if that's your desire.

Re: Discuss 'benefits'

I'd come to feel that lore shared in the journey was hugely more important What is the fundamental point of advanced training? What is the 'lore'? It's something I struggle to put into words when asked, but then things come up while being driven, points to make, little chunks of knowledge that's mi...

Once or twice I've used a (very) long horn warning to alert the sleepy driver.

Re: Q for ADIs

Could signalling have been mistaken for an intention to turn into a side road or entrance, or even to park in the wrong direction on the other side of the road? Could a following driver have seen that you were passing a vehicle? Was the signal actually conveying any useful information?

Re: Discuss 'benefits'

Cherry-picking what jumped out at me ... more 'fail' certificates would be one likely outcome. I'd be expecting more uninsured drivers. Maybe someone, somewhere, has a handle on what moves and in what direction. I think the only way to avoid this might be to aim to increase learning and knowledge wi...

Re: Discuss 'benefits'

And this is getting away from what, if any, benefits formal to test advanced training gives? While that might be true, it started out by following one of your questions ;-) I picked on that because we've had this discussion before, started by you asking the same questions, and I think it's rather m...

Re: Discuss 'benefits'

Thinking more about 'intelligent' speed assist ... some weeks ago I was caught out on a two lane dual carriageway. I'd left an area of higher hazard density and had a 'moment' thinking I'd missed the NSL and was holding up others. I looked in the centre mirror and spotted two large 50 signs on the o...

Re: Discuss 'benefits'

Presumably you mean car technology? I was thinking of, for example, lane assist, parallel parking assistance, 'auto-pilot', and so on. Also, 'intelligent' speed assist will take some of the 'burden' away from the driver. I was struck by a comment I read from a driving enthusiast who has a Tesla say...

Re: Discuss 'benefits'

all of those could be incorporated into L training. I'm not convinced this is realistic; unless we as a society are willing to demand a relatively high standard from learners, and are willing to deal with the inevitable increase in uninsured drivers caused by a higher standard for the test, then I ...
