I’m away from my most recent copy of Roadcraft, so bear with me. What are the following and close up gaps? 2 and 1 seconds, respectively? No rush :) This is from an old edition. If they're to scale - I really hope not - and 'following' is two seconds, I dread to think what the 'overtaking' position...

Prompted by the 'calculator' thread: Latest edition of Roadcraft I have is 2006. It shows the two diagrams of following and overtaking positions. Hopefully with the latter not to scale. Am I correct in thinking that there is now, in police training, reduced emphasis on this much closer position? Or ...
