Re: End of 20mph growth?
Pedant question: ...... It's undeniable that travelling faster extends reaction time ...... Does it? Quite obviously it extends reaction distance, but the idea that it extends reaction time is novel to me. Well spotted, albeit it took a month - that really is extended time :) Original post edited

Re: End of 20mph growth?
Perceived health benefits of cycling rarely take account of the fact that, deprived of their seated vehicles, many cyclists would simply get on their feet and walk which, for a journey of the same distance, burns more calories. I've heard similar concerns that e-scooters might often replace cycles ...

Re: End of 20mph growth?
For one thing, I’d personally not trust anything that the Guardian publish these days. But even supposing their conclusions turned out to be sound, Is it the data that's wrong? we should be looking for other ways to reduce casualties even further. One way, that seems easy to achieve, would eliminat...

Re: End of 20mph growth?
As an aside, we have a WhatsApp group for the road (about 300m and 90 homes). Recently, someone suggested campaigning for a 20mph limit. Filly stopped me from posting: "Do you always travel at 20mph along the road already? Do you travel at 20mph along other residential roads?" FWIW, the ro...

Re: Centre line removal
My point was however that any solution that is more demanding on the driver, compared to a glance at a centre line, is inevitably distracting the driver’s attention from other more worthy things such as road signs and hazards. But radical, but email them (or your local councillor), express those co...

Re: Centre line removal
If I know my vehicle fits on my side of the line Stick with it, this is a bit of a rambling post :) I used to do rider training with the US Air Force (in the UK). Another instructor candidate on the qualification course used to write 'life in England' articles for his bike club back in the US. One ...

When I see an oncoming large vehicle such as a bus or bin lorry, accurately assessing its width now needs more than just a glance
Wouldn't that only work if all carriageways were the same width?
