Re: Corner lines - thoughts?

I got the impression from the screen grab that the bike was on the “wrong” side of the hazard markings as a result of straightlining the two minor bends. Without a riders eye view it is difficult to say how advisable that would be, but the slow marking on the road suggests that it would not be with...

Re: Corner lines - thoughts?

Watching the video, it tries to impart a lot of information - too much perhaps, but the worst bit to me was the suggestion that large oncoming vehicles may give an indication of the severity of a bend - no mention of limit points (or how to measure without a large oncoming vehicle) WRT to the still...

Re: What gear is best?

Assuming instead of 'suggesting' a gear it just selects it instead I don't remember driving a car with an automatic gearbox where I've not overridden the gears; they just don't pick the gears I want at the time I want them. I've tried to play in mine and see if I can get it to do it with a combinat...

Re: What gear is best?

Well yes, everyone should be avoiding over-revving the engine, but most cars these days have a revlimiter, so unless it's a really cackfooted downshift it's easy enough to avoid. What part of that says "don't use the full rev range"? Is launch control allowed to help with moving ...

Re: What gear is best?

The Golf R (in manual), however, is far more intelligent and rarely gives bad advice. I think 'sporty' cars tend to suggest much higher engine speeds for shifting up. Not IME, although if you stick my automatic in sports mode it will certainly use all the revs, possibly to the point of changing dow...

Re: Driving in the dark

The scary thing is the DfT are seriously looking at this as an option. On motorways lorries already use tailgating to save fuel. I can't see the "improve safety" aspect of this. Lorries are getting longer already making overtaking quite an undertaking (scuse pun). This idea really needs n...

Re: Blimey it's quiet...

if it became law tomorrow just how many new tyres would need to be purchased? Assuming you mean winter tyres, one set is enough; most, if not all, all season tyres are appropriate for use in jurisdictions where winter tyres are a legal requirement for part of the year. If you have a 'normal' car, b...

Re: Blimey it's quiet...

presumably if the temp is above say 5C they wear more quickly...or not? They will wear slightly faster in warmer temps, and stopping distances will be longer than summer tyres in warmer weather I often wonder if the difference in stopping distances between summer and winter tyres used in the summer...

Yes. Cross climate is a Michelin brand for their all season product.
