I know the IAM has a bit of an archaic reputation, but is that taking it a bit far?

Re: Always be able to stop in the distance....

Anyone here had close convoy training? Can you explain how you avoid events like this when you deliberately avoid any reaction time between vehicles? How much trouble will there be for the driver (formal investigation? Disciplinary proceedings? )? I wonder it the rangerover has any modern tech such...

Re: Reg Local and speed...

Probably the same with many of you, it's unnecessary 50s that annoy me. Although it did amuse me that he was saying something similar while passing within a few feet of peoples' front doors. Indeed. The irony being that by extending the limit they've removed one of the more obvious demarcations tha...

Re: Reg Local and speed...

I've tidied up jcochrane's dps. The challenge with ignoring 50s is that's where there's more likely to be enforcement, and you're 10mph further over the limit than if it were national. I've not watched the video, but it sounds a bit inconsistent to argue that limits are not helpful, then say that &q...

He looks as if his head restraint is too low? ;) I think it's an integral part of the seat & not adjustable Did think it looked like that was the case. Do manufacturers not expect drivers to be different sizes? The most comfortable seats I've had in cars have been one piece sports seats. In par...

Re: Good afternoon :)

Long ago, after I'd met the standard for IAM membership and then helped others to do the same I just wished that the IAM standard would become the base standard for driving in the UK. Fool was I. It wouldn't be too bad if all drivers maintained the DoT test standard. I've had associates who wouldn'...

Re: Good afternoon :)

I'm imagining someone who had an exemption for joining the IAM and has maintained their membership but the situation which provided an exemption no longer applies. I'm also imagining that discussing advanced driving concepts might help to keep things fresh in a person's mind. It might also expose t...

Re: Post Covid Travel

A lot more working from home will reduce commuting... I hope so. It's going to be interesting to see how companies react. We've certainly got people that can't wait to be back in the office (enjoy social contact, don't have space at home to work comfortably), but a significant number have said they...
