Re: Dissertation survey

And some of the A34 off-slips are ridiculous. If you go A34 North to the A4 West, many people have visited the Armco ... Off slips are fine, most cars are competent at stopping. Joining there heading south is much dodgier, especially if you find someone dithering down the slip road and expecting to...

Re: Dissertation survey

Motorways increasingly seem to have empty lane 1s, never mind hard shoulders. Maybe "smart motorways" is just seen as a cheaper approach than educating all the MLMs to use the full capacity of the road already there

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders

And there's more: https://youtube.com/shorts/hPLNAP_kgWQ?feature=share "...and although it doesn't make it clear in the Highway Code.....". But this is the only document a normal road user will reference. No, no they won't. I'd put good money on a "normal" road user not having l...

Re: Off-siding

These are the type of driver that shouldn't have a driving license /efa. The problem is not a lack of technology. The problem is a societal unwillingess to take driving licenses away from people not prepared to put in the minimum requisite effort to be worthy of holding one. And I'd include relying...

Re: Off-siding

On a reasonably empty motorway, I'll often stay in the centre lane. It's away from the centre but also gives a margin from the left too. But ... If someone is closing from behind, I'll move left until they've passed. Do you ever get caught out by not noticing someone closing from behind? It feels l...

Re: New Members.

Some context for my previous post, about 'time'. We had one particular trainee taking CBT (very basic skills, enoughto get on the road solo). Nominally / usually than can be completed and signed of in one day. However, at that training centre we did 2 hour sessions, so you would expect it to take l...

Re: Young Drivers (again)

Part of my day job often involves identifying and hiring facilities. There is an ever-decreasing number available. FWIW Bruntingthorpe, no longer available, 100% car storage Longcross, ditto, Netflix studios TRL Crowthorne, housing estate Duxford, available but on borrowed time, housing Upper Heyfo...

See my signature :) On another forum I'm on, the admin has been known to change login names for folk who have used a similar scheme then update their vehicle  Mine is Jon T... but on one forum "jont" was taken, so I stuck a ''-' on the end. Seemed easier to keep using it elsewhere too.

• Smoother driving, with fewer accelerations and decelerations, generates fewer particulate emissions from tyre and brake wear. 75% of road transport particulate emissions come from tyre and brake wear, not exhausts Time to scrap all the speedhumps then :hit: What does the evidence say about traffi...

Speeding protection racket now fully legalised

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-63322848 Really, just fine folk, no points? Can't be any sort of danger from speeding at all then  If that's not the definition of a protection racket I don't know what is. I'm sure councils will be rolling this out nationwide as soon as they can. U...
