Re: The Silence

Parallel discussion seems a very good way of reducing critical mass even further. It's also two places to look for new content instead of only one. As alluded, perhaps the reason that there is not much discussion is that apart from changes to the motoring environment and vehicle technology, "a...

Re: Manual EV's?!

Define "wrong gear"... I'd guess something along the lines of trying to pull on to a busy roundabout, from a standstill, in the highest gear instead of 'first'? Yes, and in future I will read the post to which I am replying more carefully. Although... It does depend somewhat on the car. I...

Re: Manual EV's?!

I’m voting ‘gimmic’. I’ve driven a pure EV just for a day (200 miles) and hated it, but I’m not sure this idea makes any sense at all. The whole USP of an electric motor, to my understanding, is that it produces constant torque regardless of rpm, so there is no need for a slipping clutch when movin...

Re: 20mph alternatives

When I lived in Sussex a lot of villagers in Ditchling complained of cars speeding through the place. The police set up speed traps and caught mostly? The villagers speeding through. The only place that I can accept people speeding in Ditchling is on the roads out of it and that's because they have...

Re: Ah, that's cute

Pretty sure that it's in one of Chris Gilbert's videos.

There are 9 types of bend and the acronym to remember them is GABO.

Gradual
Acute
Blind
Open

4 each for left and right.

The ninth type is a vertical bend, or crest.
