My inference was that if you drive "sensibly" at 80-85 mph then a) it's on your own head and take the consequences, b) you'll get a big fine but not disqualified for > three figures. To really up the general standard of driving, insurance companies need to be given either a carrot or stick...

Indeed. B road from Chieveley to Pangbourne at the weekend, driving wearing sunnies. Entered a wood, with a crest. Cyclist in dark clothing at the top of the crest, not far in. PS I think you need a particular licence to fly them near roads ;) Not specifically - less than 400 feet from persons or property, yes. But any rational, well trained, sensible operator - of which there are some, but your average Joe probably isn't - will be aware of all that. Specifically? CAA say...
