I'm still waiting to see some clarification of what they really meant with regard to letting pedestrians cross if waiting to in a side road and if/how ...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
And 'maintain' safety? If you increase your speed, what other changes are you making to balance the resulting reduction in safety (because of the effects on thinking and braking distance and reduced safety margins e.g. stopping distance around blind bends, the likely increased severity of a crash, ...

"Highly unlikely to have come from emphasis on making progress, positioning for bends and chasing the limit point, etc." How do other Observers/Tutors sell the benefits of those elements of Advanced Driving. One of my lines is that for you to be called Advanced, you have to demonstrate th...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
if there are potential safety benefits from advanced stuff, then they should be incorporated into L training, so everyone benefits. I think most learners have a limited capacity to absorb subtleties; they need to have internalised the basics first. While I think the first additional step should be ...

http://the-ride-info.blogspot.com/2008/09/where-theres-one.html?m=0 The 'opposite carriageway' is interesting. Certainly if you see the air ambo overhead you can reasonably expect that traffic in both directions will be halted. Trumpton seemed to send onto both carriageways just in case the locatio...

Re: Has IAM Roadsmart given up on advanced training?
What is the pass rate for second tests? Are most that fail first time getting right with the next attempt? 48.4% of people taking their second test pass, and 46.1% of people on their third attempt get their licence. I must admit to being surprised that the first time rate is so low. (Disclaimer - O...

... And any other near-useless observation ljnks? 2. Ambulance. One hiviz in front - going to hospital; two hiviz in front - going to incident. Potentially multi-agency response, so either incident ahead, or other responders en-route? I mean one ambulance - double crewed. B&Ts - if both of them...
