Blue background signs

Postby jont- » Fri Sep 29, 2017 3:39 pm

I tried my best for minimum speeds, but I'm not sure I always managed it...

That is what they mean, right...? ;)

Advisory recommended speed. As far as I can see that variant of information sign hasn't appeared over here yet.

Did you pay them as much attention as the advisory Max Speeds here?

A more interesting question (for me) is why is your SatNag so far away? I know it is a matchbox car, :D but still seems a long way away for a quick glance.

If his reasoning is anything like mine then it is so that:

a) it's not in your eye line. (Pet hate is badly placed devices on the screen.)
and
b) it's far enough away that you can't fiddle with it.

a) yes. Although close enough I can look at it if I need to. It's been quite useful for checking speeds, particularly when in temporary limits as the caterham speedo is, well, useless. (it's not marked in KPH, bounces around to within about 5mph and /under/reads by about 10mph. In the UK I've calibrated GPS speed against gear/rpm, but I'm only just getting there with the kph equivalents).
b) Not technically possible within the confines of the caterham cabin if it stays in view at all

The windscreen is small enough that any closer and it would take an annoying proportion of it, and also the cable would be liable to interfere with other controls.

And no, it's not portugal.

The word under the sign seems to be Recordi which is remember as imperative in the Catalá language. Or, one of the other provinces where that language is predominant (it is spoken as a first language by approx 8 million people).
It is usual to have the local language on state roads and Castellano on Spanish national roads.
Yes it is a recommended speed limit.
