Agreed but the article is from the NHTSA - I imagine they know what they are doing. They say it needs further analysis to understand the breakdown but clearly they think a 7% rise is significant.

A 7% rise is nothing without context. All I ask is that if they believe it's significant they should publish the data and analysis that proves it.

That way they prevent knee jerk reactions and inefficient 'solutions' to a problem that may not even exist.
