Been a naughty boy?

Postby vanman » Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:12 am

Or have I? Out on a nice national B road following a Honda CRV 45/50mph no chance to overtake, oncommers etc. Finially after 1 to 2 mls an opportunity opens up. Allready in position so accelerate briskly, waiting till I can see CRV in rear mirror so I can come back in. CRV only in wing mirror  it has accelerated also, I don't want to cut in so keep going (bad?) finially get past with CRV in rear mirror, look down now doing 80!! Should I have..
1. (best option) Aborted overtake halfway bearing in mind not sure if they would slow at the same time.
2. (IAM option) Not bothered to overtake and follow for next 2 miles.
3. (my option) Did what I did.
4. (Dangerous option) Cut in early, with problem of upsetting CRV driver.
This sort of thing happens a lot in Surrey.

4) You've already upset them by having the nerve to question their manhood by daring to contemplate overtaking in a mere Nissan, so nothing lost

Or the Pistonheads response: brake check them and hammer frozen sausages into their lawn.

3a) do what you did, but _more_ briskly. Safety first. Speed limit later.

To safely overtake at 50 and not exceed the 60 limit would take too long and not be safe!

a) Adopt Jon T's option
b) Move to the wilds of Wales or Teesdale
c) Give up and take up tiddliwinks instead
But seriously: not all IAM examiners keep a strict eye on speedos during safe overtaking manoeuvres. So adopt the Strangely Brown option (assuming absence of cameras).
