Come to Suffolk you'll be grinning ear to ear. Plenty more examples of the "all villages must be 30 policy". AKA "30 where there's the slightest sign of habitation by humans". Mostly un-enforced unless there's a particular campaign on. Tailgaters dream and nightmare to anyone who stick to the rules. Even riding at SatNag adjusted speeds there is always someone on your rear, trying to read the postcode on my number plate!

In London at Crystal Palace there is a memorial to the first recorded fatal collision between a car and a pedestrian. It happened whilst cars were still required to have the red flag man in front.

This is exactly what happened at Ditchling in Sussex; which is one of those pretend villages where you can buy expensive jam but precious little else :)

Birmingham has several 20 zones, and consulted about introducing many more.
There are some "A" roads I use locally that have recently introduced 20 sections.
I am not used to doing 20 on these roads so have difficulty keeping to it (my new car has cruise and speed control: which helps).
When I remember and keep to 20(ish) I am hassled from behind.
