Always a personal decision these ones. I've only ever gone with my own feelings in the "which car" to get.
I'd have gone 911.
I'd have gone 911.

Would not have blamed you...ain't no bad choice here, tbh. Out of curiosity, which one exactly would you have chosen and why?

Maybe see it at the Grasshopper in Feb?

You may or may not be used to MX5's but they are very susceptible to tyres and tyre pressures.
I tend to keep mine at the recommended 26 psi (2000 model 1.6) but others say increase them a couple of pounds all around.
Make sure you keep the oil topped up as well.

It'd be the best for the budget, you know, "buy on condition", so specific model not important.
Why? Well, 911 a better tourer and European mile muncher with a bit of luggage space.
However, it's always better to have a younger car if it fits your requirements.

Maybe too early: I need to learn to drive it properly first...I will probably stick with the Z for the time being.

Thanks for the advice. I just got it rustproofed and I will experiment a little with the tyres. Because of the turbo-charger mod, I have indeed been advised to religiously check oil weekly of after 250 miles, and to keep a litre of oil on hand at all times, and to monitor the oil temps, and to let the turbo cool down before stopping, and....
Here is the link to the car I bought: http://www.bbrgti.com/2009-mazda-mx-5-r ... two-turbo/
Last weekend I ran with the top down all day...really nice. I could not believe how comfortable you can get despite the -1 C ambient temp! This is definitely a convertible that you can use all year long...
