The Netherlands
The Netherlands
Just been over to the Netherlands for the first time in several years, and fascinated to find the whole country seems to be interlaced with five-lane motorways, with everybody driving along at exactly 105 kph. It's positively weird, and makes South-East UK seem quite rural.
Re: The Netherlands
Why 105 kph? What are the national speed limits for different classes of road?

Nothing to do with limits, it seems to be the default motorway speed.

Re: The Netherlands
I drove through a bit of Holland yesterday - My memory is pretty good lane discipline and a 120kph speed limit that I was moderately bending to make a certain ferry out of Dunkirk.
I cannot say the lane discipline and general driving was much good when I hit Belgium though! Boy, most of them seem to have a death wish!

A country with a more integrated transport system would be hard to imagine. It really is superb.
