RoSPA Trainer & Assessor Courses for motorcycle trainer

Postby motorcyclist » Thu Apr 13, 2017 4:03 pm

A friend of mine is planning a trip to the UK and to take riding training at RoSPA. He does the majority of motorcycle training/assessment for his Company and is aiming for a course which qualify himself to train/assess riders to achieve to the standard of Advanced Riding.

According to RoSPA website, two 'trainer and assessor courses' are available: 1) Advanced Driving/Motorcycle Instruction Diploma (a five-day course); and 2) International Diploma in Advanced Instruction (a ten-day in-company course tailored to the needs of the specific country, organization and delegates).

He has passed the IAM Advanced Driving/Riding Tests in car / motorcycle, but does not hold any ADI qualification in his country. In such case, which course is more appropriate for him (Advanced Motorcycle Instruction Diploma or the Intenational Diploma in Advanced Instruction)?

I don't think he can do the RoSPA Diploma unless he has already taken the RoSPA test and achieved a Gold or Silver pass.

Looking at the website for the International Course it doesn't look like you have to have taken the RoSPA test.

So unless he takes the RoSPA Test first it looks like the International course may be his only option.

What's his 'company' and what are the specific benefits for other employees of them being trained in advanced riding? Is that actually what they need rather than what he wants? ;)
Your 'standard' is how you drive alone, not how you drive during a test.

Thanks for both advice. In such case, I guess the two courses serve different purpose. Diploma holder of the International Course CANNOT provide training for trainees in preparation for the Advanced Driving/Riding Test (eg. RoSPA/IAM/BMF Blue Riband/DIAmond advanced ....).

For visitors or overseas' candidates, they must take the RoSPA test(s) before they can enrol to the Advanced Diploma courses.
