I was at Manchester Uni when that professor was there - Gordon or Graham something, IIRC. He was Mech. Eng. and I was something else, so I only saw him once.

Is this the guy who tried to claim IP for BMW's forks with separate suspension?

This topic is going to drift into discussing Malcom Newell and Royce Creasey soon ;)

It certainly involved BMWs but if you click on the link above you'll see it's to a US patent that I doubt he would have been granted if it breached someone else's IP.

It was the other way round, with (again) IIRC BMW accidentally borrowing the Hossack design for the K12. I *think* they gave him an R1100RS as a belated thank you.

That's what I was saying. BMW used HIS design/IP.
