A new series from Reg similar to the one he did for cars.
It will be interesting to see/hear his riding and views as an examiner. He's gone from a non-rider to Examiner in a short space of time, as covered in this intro about his motorcycling history.

Here's the next instalment
I've asked in the YT comments about the use of Cruise Control , that he is using while videoing, on test.

Here's the next instalment.
Another one pluralisng Observation. If you do that the title should be Observations and Plans. I see a few people doing this, always referring to Observation as Observations. It grates for me. Probably just me. Otherwise a good upload.

Stick with the MSF's 'Search'
The comparison I've used before is: - Coppers in car car, parked up, with stock of coffee and doughnuts, 'observing' to see what happens - Police dog, nose down, 'searching'
Active search Vs passive observe
MSF suggest the importance of moving from passive 'looking' to active search.
They used to suggest: Search Predict Act
Later altered : Search Evaluate Act

Observe seems fine to me
"notice or perceive (something) and register it as being significant"
"watch (someone or something) carefully and attentively."

Next time you lose some money down the back of the sofa, keep watching the sofa
If you want your money back, search for it

A good explanation of something people often misunderstand.

Do you mean misunderstood as in incorrect implementation?
Is it easier to explain with statements such as: - slowing in the gear you are already in - being able to comfortably achieve all the braking needed And - if you think that you will need to have a lower gear to get sufficient braking, use the brakes
As the video progresses, RL seems to move on from his initial explanation. His commentary at about 8:30, 10:35 and 12:35 seem to alter the stance, including something like "I'm maintaining third, I haven't taken it to slow down".
As this excellent resource says
http://the-ride-info.blogspot.com/p/diy ... g.html?m=1 As before: use the brakes if you have to, remember that 'engine braking' means using the engine to slow you - not the gearbox, only change down when the revs have dropped, then use the throttle to match the revs with your road speed.

Have any of the 'car only' members here, with no bike experience, been watching these videos?
