The time it takes stopped traffic to recover it's operating speed is within five times of the time it was stationary, so obviously it will move quite a bit faster if even a few drivers would manage to creep through rather than stop-go.

Stop-go is also a much better recipe for being shunted.

I don't know about you, but I've missed ADUK's resident turd in the swimming pool rising to the surface to make such vital points in a discussion such as this... :lol:
