I drove to a client site (yes, really!) in stiff black brogues with leather soles today. Not great. Shoes really do make a difference. Heel and toe was a doddle though from a reach point of view, even though the feel aspect was rubbish.

The correct attire for the drive is very important.

I am beginning to think that should be a modest prize for the best-dressed driver at each driving day ...

From way way back, a talk from a Class One to the IAM group I was in. This Class One was in his late forties and his training was therefore back in the mists of time.
A technique the instructors of his time had for dealing with students who couldn't master gearchanges was to make them drive without shoes.

My choice are Pikolinos Fuencarra. Strange sounding but very comfy. ;)
