Be interesting to know how they align between them (given the reputed rivalry between police driving schools, etc.).

I recognise one of them by name. Used to work with a nice chap running an advanced driving company.
Thank God they're all ADIs - no issue paying them then.

One member of the team at one time thought he was acquiring the High Performance Course! (I'm sure he is a suitable coach, on that occasion unfortunately for him he did not get what he had been promised).

I was surprised how many coaches they have - though no doubt they are all independent and will not necessarily get very much work from this source. The High Performance Course, a very well known brand in this field, advertises only two coaches, neither of whom is anything like full time under this brand. The main reason for not having more coaches is that there would not be enough work for them to do much of it. Several decades ago Paul Ripley was trading in this field at a time when he was well known from his excellent articles in the ? Sunday Telegraph - at that time I believe the business consisted of him and his father in law.

One consequence of having so many coaches from so many different backgrounds is that you would no doubt get a very different experience depending which coach you were allocated.

Reg is exceptional value for those willing to travel to his part of the country.

I was amused by the pricing of the tests, level 3 £295, level 4 £495, level 5 £395. I would give level 4 a miss!

I wonder what the output is intended to be from these tests. Is it a Pass or Fail? Generally, although there is a difference in emphasis between a test and a coaching session, I would expect the value of an assessment for a qualification which no-one has heard of mainly to lie in constructive feedback. A more likely approach would be to provide an assessment, and for the outcome to be the level as well as the feedback - Rospa system, but hopefully at a much higher level.

In a previous decade Mark Kendrick who now runs The Driving College set up something like this, IIRC under the brand Club Driving. It did not last long so he evidently did not manage to make a go of it. Long before Reg, Mark did some good driving DVD's. I had a nice session with him during a club holiday in the north country and one of my friends was at the time the first to achieve his highest award.

Your 'standard' is how you drive alone, not how you drive during a test.

I couldn't see anywhere if they provide a suitable car, but I suspect you have to bring your own.

I've found the FAQs and you provide the car. And lunch is extra.

It’s a slick looking website.

I had a day with CAT last November at UTAC, spending the whole day at Millbrook on the various test sites for everything from how much ABS actually adds to braking distances to the low grip surfaces. Invaluable training I haven’t had since my last day at Millbrook in 2009 with Hugh Noblett. The CAT level 3 day I did wasn’t cheap at £1400 including Porsche Club GB discount.

A day out with the likes of Carole Graham, Andy Morrison or Clive Jones is far cheaper and arguably better for preventing the circumstances of handling in extremis in the first place!

Apologies if CAT has been mentioned in other threads.
