Having slept off the Christmas excess, Happy New Year!!

Hopefully Covid (whatever strain) will keep at bay this year. Anyroad, hoping to set up a couple of drive outs once the days become longer, have a mind to do Newbury and perhaps around here (Caterham) again. Anyone fancy doing Wales, despite the 20's :nono: or anywhere?

I always thought it better to advertise a date and location, more likely to get a response.

Just curious :)

… As a conspicuously junior member of these forums, may I ask, what is meant by a “drive out”?

Assuming there is no rigid agenda, examples of typical events may help me to understand.

More often referred to as a driving day, the event starts with breakfast at a chosen venue. The organiser will have devised (or copied) a selection of circular routes from that venue, hopefully taking in some of the best roads in the area. There will be a matrix which pairs two drivers together for the morning. They will take turns to drive a route each from those offered, with their partner alongside to praise/criticise/help with the navigation. After lunch at the starting venue the process is repeated with a different partner. Thus you should drive two routes and be driven on two. You should be able to enjoy good food, good company, good roads and maybe even learn something from one or other of your partners for the day.

In the unfortunate event of there being an odd number of attendees there will be a group of three taking turns on some of the shorter routes.

One of the quite popular ones has been based on The Carpenters Arms just round the corner from Tot Hill services on the A34. If I read your posts correctly I suspect you are based somewhere near Wallingford, so that would be a good one for you if it comes to pass.
