Some of the planes queued up near Ipswich. A little bimble out of the GTR with some mates, coffee and cake, and a walk to a sunny field ... nice way to spend the morning.

The Chinooks flew right over my place of work on their way back to Odiham.

We had 4 or 5 over work, with the AWACS bringing up the rear. Load of helicopters over yesterday, with two of the fixed wing aircraft with the pivoting rotor tips - don't know whether they were setting off in preparation, or unrelated.

Watched from Colchester Utd stadium next to A12. Some of them flew over at <1000ft

Those will be V-22 Ospreys, American things. Probably on their way to Fairford for RIAT this weekend.

Perhaps not! They were heading approx NNW over Bracknell, in the company of three or four large helicopters (technically, 'big beggers').

I think we are getting 50 of them over here during RIAT - will wait and see - there are enough other noisy things up in the air!

There's video online (sorry, no link, someone else showed me it) of how the planes were choreographed to meet.
