Ultra low emmission zone

Just saw an ad. on the back of a bus announcing that ulez would come into effect from 8th April 2019. Thought I'd check my vehicles, both petrol ones (inc. 17yr old micra) are ok, the van not so (it's 03 so fair enough I thought) on doing further checks any diesel vehicles upto 2016 will incur a £12.50 per day charge. This is not in the congestion zone (£25 for that) but out as far as Coulsdon, well south of Croydon. Something perhaps I should have been aware of, or has this been kept quiet?

And nearly every pre-2007 motorcycle that isn't Euro 3. :(

Diesel vehicles up to 2016? I have one from Sept 2015 which is Euro 6 compliant and understand will not be subject to the charge. Site says 'Will be based on declared emissions rather than age'. Extension of the zone beyond the current congestion charging zone is from Oct 2021.

Shame it's not based on actual emissions rather than the proven ability to game an inadequate test.

The map I saw suggests that in October 2021 it will be extended to just inside the north/south circular, with those roads being specifically excluded.

like all these taxes it has nothing to do with congestion / emmissions / toxicity...
my RR is excluded, yet must be the least efficient of my cars on emissions...

AIUI, the initial phase will be the same area as the current congestion change zone. The second phase, in 2021, will extent to the area that Gareth mentions above.

I keep reading that in my head as Rolls Royce. Just had an image of you wafting into the EZ escorted by motorcycle outriders sweeping the hoi poloi out of your way.

Planet Horse returning control to Earth :)

Well done I used the ulez maps/info. TFl site much better. Apologies to all, also I was looking at vRS diesels (something with a bit of clout for a change)

Still quite an eye opener, I for one tend to keeep my cars so second hand diesels looking iffy for me.
