Hi Mike,
I visited Duxworth some years ago. Interested in aviation - a great place. Was that biplane on the first line giving flights? It looks like one in which I had a short flight. - Geoff.

I didn't see it flying that day but it was in a live area rather than a display exhibit.

Can't answer that question but that type are routinely used to give pleasure flights - nostalgic 30s atmosphere and all that.

It's a De Havilland (aaaah) Dragon Rapide, for info.

Nice photos Mike - I haven't been to Duxford for ages - must get back there next year.

Why so many bikes? Was it an organised run out?

Nothing organised by Duxford but lots of bikes turning up for the Remembrance day service. There are lots of ex-forces based motorcycle clubs and many would have had their own club rides there.

Lots of bikes went to see this poppy display in Walsham-le-Willows as well. Sadly a few days later some low life stole the collection box. :x

Yes, that's the one. Glad to see its still going strong. Great flight.
I have a slide of it myself, somewhere (yes, it was that long ago!)
Geoff.

Yes lovely classic aircraft and not too many still flying.

Croydon Aerodrome was some distance from Gatwick and was quite separate.

I stand corrected. That looks an interesting website if it weren't completely unusable on a phone since it refuses to scroll sideways so you can only see the first two thirds of each sentence! I shall have to try again when I'm released and get home.
