I like the one on the little Buddy electric city car. :)

This is what several of my motorcycle mates have fitted to their bikes. I think it's too harsh and it's very hard to do a polite toot.

The twin windtones BMW used to fit in Ye Good Old Days were good.

Oh, and the brakes on my CX (if provoked) squealed like the local double decker buses. That could wake people up :)

Only the driver of that little electric car seems to be wearing a seatbelt , and two sitting in the front passenger seat ....

From memory , I think I was once told off following an MOT that the air horns I had at the time were 'too loud' and that he could have failed me for that , but didn't .

From memory , one of the loudest car horns was on the Mercedes 600

I have fitted a 17” long single air horn, allegedly capable of generating 150dB of hoot. Before doing so I studied the relevant section of The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1986/1078/regulation/37/made

which states that: Subject to paragraph (6), the sound emitted by any horn, other than a reversing alarm or a two-tone horn, fitted to a wheeled vehicle first used on or after 1st August 1973 shall be continuous and uniform and not strident.

Nowhere is there any mention of how loud it can or cannot be. I have found that I can give a gentle toot with a rapid press and release of the horn button because there is a little lag while the compressor spins up to deliver maximum flow through the horn and hence maximum volume. Once that occurs even the dead are wakened from their slumbers. It is especially pleasing in tunnels. I have no plans to grow up any time soon.

Perhaps the phrase ‘not strident’ could be interpreted to include excessive loudness ?

At least my cars are at times used for Fire Brigade purposes so I could get away with two tones ( which I don’t have ) as well as the magnetic or dashboard mounted blue lights which I do have and can ( but rarely do ) use when on a job .

Recently swaped my original feeble Micra horn for a Corsa one. Not too loud but at least it can be heard. Works on distant cyclists, lane swapping Audis and Purley Way traffic in general. Brill.

One a bit like this, tbh:

Flashing lights desirable but optional... ;)
