Does anyone on here have one?

I'm thinking of getting one and can't quite make up my mind.

yup - we have a very simple one here for the office - works very well...
I don't drink coffee, but my business partner does and everyone who drinks it likes it...

I'm a strictly black coffee man, so need for anything that has no place in a real cup of coffee.

Last time I looked at Nespresso they were more expensive. Not sure about the cost of consumables. They always seem a bit vague about that. I've heard you can now get the pods from elsewhere - I seem to remember a court case a while back - I can't remember how it went.

Excuse the ignorance but what do these do that a jar and spoon don't?

I've got one and really like it. The pods are 29 - 38p each depending on whether it's a limited addition (flavoured/extra strong) or one of the standard pods. I've only ever used the official pods, which I believe can only be ordered online or bought in their London shop. Means you normally end up doing a ~£50-100 bulk buy to get free shipping which keeps you going for a long while rather than adding to to you weekly shop.

My in-laws bought a batch of 3rd party pods (not sure which) but went back to the official ones as they said they didn't taste as nice but no personal experience.
The main criticism seems to be around the use of resources for actual pods. They do offer a recycling services where you drop the used ones into a bag and then arrange someone to pick them up through their website, or drop them into a shop which sells the machines I believe.

I'm happy with it but I don't know how the taste compares.

Machine doesn't have to be made by nespresso... but so far view here is that they do the best pods, others having been considered not as good... for black you just run it through the same pod twice - very easy... as for milk, you might have visitors who would like it with milk!

We are very happy with a Tassimo machine. I know of at least one person who having tried coffee from our machine bought the same machine for themselves.

With this machine if you want (which I understand you don't) latte you use a 2nd pod in the machine rather than dealing with the milk in a different way. I think this technology is cheaper than Nespresso - presumably because on not having to pay Clooney.

I'm not a fan of coffee capsule machines on the grounds (pardon the pun) of sustainability - use a pod/capsule then throw it away or spend ages recycling it.

It's also more expensive. I use a Rok Espresso hand press machine - http://www.rokkitchentools.com/ and I have a coffee grinder right next to it. But then I'm a coffee snob

I often use an AeroPress, readily available. It took me a while to work out how to use it because, initially, I was using too little coffee. It's quite quick to use, which I like. I started by using ground coffee from Nero, but have now changed to using Aldi's Ethiopian ground coffee after reading online recommendations.
