For those who don't know the history, a year ago a random comment I had made on the old forum (ADUK) came back to haunt me... "it is easy to set up a forum..." I said - my bluff was well and truly called :) so I found a domain, downloaded the up to date version of the software, and set up a new forum not expecting anyone to come along... almost 10 years to the day after ADUK was founded and as the old forum was bought commercially and members no longer wanted to post there...

In that year we have managed over 10,000 posts (I might be guilty of a few of those!) across 400+ topics, have acquired 188 members and an active forum with interesting content every day... and a great bunch of people posting - thank you all...

Congratulations and well done for getting it this far (and thriving it would appear). Why did no-one to post on the old site - it being bought commercially dent seem a reason for folk not to post (and doesn't seem like ti was a good purchase for whoever made it!)

From me too, it's a very big thankyou to Alistair for this 'site.
@ Smeeagain, the whole ethos of the previous 'site was going to change, not least because the new owner had a certain link that many of us did not want to be aligned with.

Hi smeeagain, with ADUK, the new owner was very clear he bought the site for its google ranking and ability to support his business of driver training... while driver training can and should have elements of advanced driving, it is not really the same thing, albeit it is what many corporates think AD is... So there was a disconnect between that approach and the membership which was more AD focused. While not having. Identical aims the new owner has been very relaxed and gentlemanly about people leaving and setting up here, even pushing some of his visitors to here for advice...

Adding my thanks too, but be prepared for cries for help as I make my first attempt at organising a Driving Day with my less-than-adequate IT skills!
