To what extent does this influence your buying decision?

Never thought about it, if I like a car enough I buy it...
Insurance ratings for cars take that into account when setting their premiums, so ultimately it could I suppose cost you more to insure in the long run. Life's too short to worry about it though...

Cars not so much but vans yes it does matter.
They tend to be better protected from the break in point of view these days. The manufacturers are aware of this but still IMO do not do enough.

Watch those things if you have a leather steering wheel - they'll wreck them unless they've improved them enormously.

I will admit to being a bit wary of certain brands of car with respect to vandalism. I would guess a posh BMW, Audi or Jaguar is much more likely to be a target than a more "modest" brand.

I don't think about the theft element but i do worry about getting the car vandalised. If I'm going into town for a night out I don't take my car as I'm afraid it will get damaged. Though I don't actually have any evidence this is the case.

I'd be more worried about car park dings than vandalism. I say that with particular feeling since SMWBOs Mazda 2 has already been scraped on the o/s passenger door and wheel arch while in her work car park, and sadly as seems to be the par for modern uk, no-one has had the decency to own up/leave a note
And yes, it wasn't even a week old

It won't be long before cars need a rubber bumper all the way round. The Citroen Cactus is just a forerunner.
