There's a lot to be said for using 80% of a low power engine as opposed to 20% of a high power one. High performance cars are great, but you rarely get to use anything like their full potential, which can be frustrating. Of course, eventually most people want more performance than they have, thinking that more = better.

....and then eventually, as you get much older, you realise that having sufficient is all that's needed for contentment.

I've been at that stage for quite a while now, and I reckon it's great.

Contentment: a rather elusive factor in the modern world.

I really tend to agree and am more than happy with the 110bhp MX5 we have. I don't sniff at the van we own either as it is not lacking in power, has all the knobs and buttons, gives a great view, and the camaraderie of being a 'White van man' :)
I've always had a liking for cars that have just enough power without the need for large amounts of electrics to hold it back.

A car, 5 bicycles, a trike and two legs. But not all at the same time.

What car is it?

A blue one. Now I'm down to one car, having had three for much of last year, in fact it's the fourth car I've bought in two years. Not sure why I ended up with three simultaneously, I can only drive one at once, but hey ho. Of those four, it's certainly not the newest, nor the fastest or best equipped, but I like it. It is not a Skoda/VW/Seat/Audi and certainly no a diesel. HTH. :D
