You mean you don't have a box you can set to record from your phone?

Never seen any of them, probably not going to bother now.

What kind of box is this that can be set to record from a phone?

A sky box. The app pairs your phone to the box. You can change the channel from it too which is rather amusing sometimes.

Ah, OK. We're with the other lot (and we don't have the fancy recording box anyway).

You can do the same with my freesat box, basically over Internet to provider and then they can talk directly to your box via the dish, doesn't work the same way for aerial driven free view... I have the box set you can borrow at some point :)

ours is a Humax PVR freeview box, with custom firmware installed - its this firmware which allows it, but is a faff to setup which is why I've never got around to it...

TBH we very rarely record anything. We have an old-fashioned HD recorder but it can't record anything other than the channel you're watching because it has no other inputs, so fairly pointless, plus Virgin have pretty good catch-up TV so we don't really miss anything.

But catchup TV doesn't let you FF adverts :( I rarely watch anything live these days unless it's on BBC as I find the adverts tedious
