As the 20 mph is infecting most of South Oxon, there seems to be an increase in the number of impatient drivers who will tailgate through the 20mph section and then blast past as it ends, frequently in a reckless manner. Is it just age catching up with me, or is this something that EV drivers are up to ?

Perhaps you might check the rest of Oxfordshire ... it seems to be across the whole county.

This is an example of Manchester's planning department idea of making roads safer. This is a 20mph Zone about 120 meters between the pinch point (left) and the T junction (right) In this distance there is a crossing a bus stop and the entrance/exit from a school carpark.


If approaching the pinch point your view of the road is complete obscured by the trees especially if you are passing a bus at the bus stop. If coming from the left as you pass through the pinch point if there is a bus at the bus stop it is a vision blocker for the pedestrian crossing.
Some how these planners think this is making the place safer. And often the pinch point means there is a almost constant flow of traffic around school start and finish times in one direction then the other.

To recap, we had a village survey to vote for/against a 20mph limit. The result was 43/33 in favour of keeping 30mph limit.

The pro-20mph Parish Council have now published a response….

“Following the 20mph survey responses and input from the last parish council meeting, the majority of villagers who responded to the survey feel that we should focus on speed restrictions throughout the village…”

The controlling elected coalition at Oxford County have state that 20mph limits require ‘local support’. So no probs then it’s clearly what people want. No point in crying, you just have to laugh.

That's the demographic process. Or something. Next time we have a Driving Day in this area we are going to need shorter routes ....
