looks really good and intelligently links on VIN as I checked a car which has had its reg. plate change and it correctly picks it up back through previous number plates

6 of my previous cars appear to be dead. The rest are chugging along quite nicely apart from a recurrent advisory for a chip in the windscreen on the Skoda.

My previous mx5 had a terrible time in 2014 though. 14 fails and 10 advisories. Passed this year so somebody loves it.

Not bad for a '98 Mondeo that was written off in 2004 @ about 66,000 miles after hitting a kerb at >30MPH trying to avoid the muppet that didn't see us - broken steering, suspension, sump off the engine and panel damage.....

Highlights from my MOT histories:

"all tyre treads scrubbed and ripped" - note to self: don't have the MoT done shortly after a day on the runway at Alconbury

"vehicle caked in mud and difficult to examine" - note to self: don't have the MoT done straight after the other half parked in a wet and muddy stableyard.

Much as I like the idea of being able to look at the MoT history as a buyer, I do worry that when I'm selling a car the buyer might not think I look after it as well as I do!

One of my old Octavias is showing 65,000 on it's first MOT in November 2012. When I sold it a month earlier to We Want Any Car it had done nearly 150,000! No wonder I was given a good price for it. Happy days!

It passed its last MOT 2 days ago at 118,000. It should be nearer 200,000, so it hasn't done too bad. When I sold it, it was in top class condition with no damage inside or out, so I can see why it was clocked.

Should I call the Police?

DVSA should pick this up - that was one of the main reasons for introducing centralised MOT records. Of course someone will probably claim the speedo was replaced. Should be fairly easy for them to check where the fraud happened, though, if you feel like dropping them a line.
