Is it just me?

Or does the new format of ADUK actually hurt your eyes?

It's very bright, for some reason...

He's a man with a domain name and he's going to (ab)use it.

Now anyone who's interested in proper advance driving runs the risk of getting conned into paying stupid money for one of his courses in how to negotiate a few cones in the office car park, followed by a sleep-inducing lecture on the evils of driving too fast.

The new ADUK forum skin looks shite. He is clearly someone who knows the square root of feck all about web design and usability.

I consider Rob to be a leech. He has purchased ADUK for the "google juice" and that, I would say, came pretty exclusively from the forum content. He has contributed absolutely nothing to it and, let's be honest, cares nothing about it. He only wants it to drive traffic to his main business site. The sooner it dies off the better.

The Google juice is I think from the front pages, but created by the forum, the changes in forum dynamic may well change that...

Ref web design, I think there is a certain lack of experience - the front end is I think Wordpress, the forum is of course phpbb, however I don't think he is an IT bod so both those are reasonable choices...

I and others weren't keen on a commercial purchase of ADUK, but I can see why he made the purchase and actually the business he is running is a good one... It might not be as in depth AD as we would support and promote, but any further training is good...

Well as it so happens he is also an IT bod and does know the square root of something as this company http://www.zinc-econsulting.com is owned by Rob and works out of the same offices as Driversdomain.

'Zinc eConsulting Ltd specialises in the online marketing and development of web based businesses. We own two leading websites in the driver training sector, and currently working on new and exciting projects both within this sector, and further afield in both the UK and around the world.

We also provide consultancy to web based businesses, and companies that wish to improve their online coverage. Specifically we help with:

1. Strategic development of online marketing plans
2. New online business feasibility studies
3. Tactical direction and support, covering organic, paid search and social media
4. Conversion optimisation and development'

It would seem that they are 'experts' in web design around the world, as well as driver training, so our Rob has many strings to his many bows!

Is it? [a good business]

I agree that further training is good. I'm not entirely convinced that *any* further training is necessarily good but hey, I'll give the benefit of the doubt. Reading his site, I am quite interested in exactly who these DVSA advanced trainers are? Are they really just ADIs - I assume they MUST be ADIs - who do a bit of "AD" (but not as we know it) on the side?

On one of his Piston Head posts discussing Supercar driving courses he was trying to set up, he mentions he uses the same instructors as the IAM use!

So long as the student continues to apply that training rather than treat it as a work related chore to be endured for the sake of retaining a job.
